It took a lot of people and a lot of work to make these few hours happen, but as we, in the community of faith know: All things work together for good, to those who are called to work according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 And With God, all things are possible.... Matthew 19:26
So much LOVE! That is the only way to describe the Christmas Party held for those we serve at the Mission.
We asked for donations of toys and other items so the kids in the neighborhood could have something for Christmas. If we were in corporate America and rating performance, we would say that our volunteers and donors "GREATLY EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS!!!" While volunteers in the gym were treating the neighbors to a nice lunch, volunteers upstairs organized more than 4000 items and then waited for the children...
It must have been an unbelievable sight for those young children to walk into that room. (It was unbelievable for an adult!!!) Each child chose a couple of toys. We even had enough to share with other local organizations that serve the poor. Every toy, mitten and scarf found a loving home. Thank YOU!!
The gym was packed with neighbors and volunteers. Father Bob gave a blessing and the neighbors were served a nice lunch prepared by our great volunteers. Christmas songs were sung and kids from the neighborhood performed a Christmas play.
The children ate and waited patiently, with anticipation, to go upstairs to the room with the Christmas gifts! Such good kids.
In addition, many kids were busy working on crafts and making Christmas cards that they, in turn, could give to someone they love.
Not only did you give them a great Christmas, but you are giving them a chance to be all that God meant them to be. Thanks again! "So Much Love." That is the way to describe the Mission Christmas Party. Remember this about love: “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16). “If anyone says, ‘I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen” (1 John 4:20). You did not just donate toys or make sandwiches this Christmas. You loved. May God continue to abide with you throughout 2012!
